Mrs J Clayton is responsible for coordinating Special Educational Needs and Disability and has responsibility for provision.
The Governor with oversight of the arrangements for SEN and disability is Sally Faraday. These people may all be contacted through the school.
Our school provides a broad and balanced curriculum for all children. The National Curriculum is our starting point for planning that meets the specific needs of individuals and groups of children. When planning, teachers set suitable learning challenges and respond to children's diverse learning needs.
Some children have barriers to learning that may arise from having special educational needs and/or disability and require particular action by the school. Where it is decided that a child has SEND, the decision is recorded in the school records and the parents / carers are informed. We value everyone’s input into the SEND process so it is important to us to work with parents, families and the children so that everyone is involved.
Joint Discussion Plans (JDPs) and Intervention Plans (IPs) are created with the class teacher and SENDCO then a meeting is arranged with all invested parties to establish how the support will be embedded in school. This will have supportive elements within class and through discreet intervention sessions led by our Teaching Assistants and HLTA. Every afternoon, we have dedicated time for intervention. We focus on keeping up rather than catching up but if that is needed, a designated programme will be used to support the child's learning at that time. Teachers inform T.As of the need of support which enables us to have same-day intervention; frequent interventions and interventions over a period of time. Our small classes and working environment affords for this to happen.
In addition to the above, one of our T.As is ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) trained. There are 6-8 week programmes for children who are in need of support.

Our school has an accessible toilet and we can offer assistive technology, such as ipads, where this helps to provide access to the curriculum. Our accessibility plan is monitored, reviewed and reported upon annually to the Governing Body in compliance with legal requirements.
